The Puerto de la Ragua is a classic Pass road. The asphalt is in good condition throughout and the road usually has a central reservation - except for one narrow section where there is no central reservation. The route alternates between flowing bends with generous radii and some tight Hairpin bends, especially in the upper sections. Short ramps with gradients of up to 25% demand clean shifting. Experienced riders will find plenty of riding fun here, while beginners can easily master the route in dry conditions and at a steady pace.
In terms of traffic, the Mountain pass mainly connects the surrounding villages and thus serves as a regional north-south crossing without being a main supra-regional axis. The volume of traffic is generally moderate, but can increase noticeably at weekends and during the vacation season due to excursion and diversion traffic. The effects of the weather at this altitude should not be underestimated; in the winter months, weather-related restrictions and even temporary closures are possible, but overall the volume of long-distance and heavy traffic is usually low.
