The Port d'Envalira presents itself as a well-developed, continuously asphalted Mountain road with a predominantly wide carriageway, central reservation and climbing lanes in sections. The route is mostly flowing with wide radii and long sweeping bends, with only a few tight Hairpins. Short ramps reach up to 18%, but remain manageable thanks to the grippy surface and good visibility. Overall, the route is easy to ride (Difficulty level 1) and therefore ideal for beginners, but also offers experienced riders an enjoyable, rhythmic ride.
As the central axis of Andorra to the French border, the Mountain pass is very important for traffic, so the volume can increase significantly - especially at weekends, during vacation periods and in the ski season. Since the opening of the Túnel d'Envalira, some of the through traffic has shifted to the Tunnel, which relieves some of the pressure on the Pass summit.
