The Col de Sourzay is a narrow, asphalted mountain route with ramps of up to 21%, making it one of the more challenging routes. The road surface is generally good, but cracked and patched in places. The road is narrow over long stretches and has no continuous center markings; the sequence of bends ranges from tight Hairpins to alternating and often small radii. The route is rather slow to ride and is clearly aimed at experienced motorcyclists; it is only recommended to a limited extent for beginners due to the gradient, narrowness and density of Hairpins.
The volume of traffic is generally low to moderate, although additional excursion traffic and cyclists can be expected at weekends and during the season.
