The Col du Chasseral has a continuous asphalt road. The ascent from Saint-Imier is wide and has a continuous central reservation. From Nods, on the other hand, the route runs without a central reservation and the road is much narrower. However, the Hairpins on this side are usually easy to see.

In the summer months, the road surface can be very dirty in places, particularly due to agricultural vehicles and field work. Due to these conditions, the route is particularly suitable for experienced motorcyclists.
